What is this?

Social justice is an ideal arising from principles of fairness and equity. It is a concept that envisions a society in which all individuals, regardless of identity, have access to the same economic, political and social resources and opportunities. It demands that the fruits of economic development and political reform are shared by all members of society and that all are protected from discrimination and exploitation by government and corporate policies. Social justice implies an established and fair distribution of power and resources, both domestically and internationally. It seeks to ensure that difficult systemic and structural challenges, such as poverty and marginalization, can be resolved through collective action, supportive government policy and greater education and understanding of rights and responsibilities.
